The Dukan Diet
There are literally thousands of diets that were created over the course of a decade, and today, we’re going to take a look at a particular diet that aims to lose 10 pounds a day, granted that you do the very strict diet plan.
I am referring to the Dukan Diet. According to Pierre Dukan, the main proponent of this diet, he says that by limiting carbohydrate intake, you can force your body to burn fat instead (which is something you would want, right?)
Dr. Dukan is a highly successful doctor and he has counseled many patients who wanted to lose weight. He found out that a lot of people want to lose weight, but they do not want to sacrifice protein at all. Armed with the knowledge of what people really want, he has devised a diet plan that retains lean meat, but eliminating (or almost eliminating) carbohydrates in a meal per day.
The Dukan Diet is divided into 4-phases: The Attack Phase, Cruise Phase, Consolidation phase and the Stabilization phase.
The Attack Phase is where you eat all-protein foods to kickstart the Dukan diet. And by all-protein foods, it means virtually eliminating any carbohydrate foods to pave the way for the next phase.
The Cruise phase is where you will start to eat vegetables. There are a number of vegetables you can (about a total of 100, in fact). This phase also wants you to alternate between pure protein meals, and protein+vegetable meals. You can alternate every 3 days until you reach your desired weight goal.
The Consolidation Phase is where you are allowed to have cheat days. Dr. Dukan found out that no one in the world can stick to the diet plan, 100% of the time for prolonged periods. Dr. Dukan notes, though, that you can only have a maximum of 2 cheat days per week.
The Stabilization Phase is where you will don the healthy lifestyle and continue what you have been doing for the rest of your life! This means that you will only be limited to 2 cheat days per week, and you also have to eat healthy foods.
Now that you know all of the Dukan diet’s phases, what are you allowed to eat through each one? Well, in the attack phase, you are only allowed to eat All-protein foods. This means that you eat proteins such as eggs, salmon, lean beef cuts, just to name a few.
In the Cruise phase, this is where you will eat protein and vegetables. Opt for the starch-free vegetables like Spinach, Broccoli, string beans. Do not eat potatoes as it contains a lot of starch.
In the Consolidation phase, you are now allowed to eat foods that you’ve always wanted to eat, provided that you consume only a little of it. You can also start to eat carbohydrate-rich foods such as breads and pastas, again, in little quantities.
And finally, in the Stabilization phase, it is now up to you what you want to eat. Again, a diet should be a lifestyle, and if you’ve lived through the previous 3 phases, then you should have now adopted the healthy eating lifestyle in the stabilization phase.
The Dukan diet is a relatively easy diet to follow, so if you’re looking for a good diet plan, this is a good diet plan to start with to help you lose weight.
