The South Beach Diet
There are a lot of diets out there. Diets that promise people that they would lose a lot of weight. Diets that are proven to keep the fat off. And, diets that promise to give them their dream physique in an x amount of time.
One particular diet that has been popular for over a decade now is called the South Beach Diet. The principle behind this diet is that you should eat foods that are rich in fiber, low-glycemic carbohydrates and lean protein.
If you want to know more about this diet, then you’re in luck, because I will explain it even further. The technique here is that the South Beach diet has three stages: Rapid weight loss for about 2 weeks, Eat more variety of foods, and Maintaining the great figure.
The first phase entails the person to have some determination. Just like any other diets, they are going to be subject to some drastic changes, especially in what they eat. For the first phase of the South Beach Diet, people are advised to eliminate cravings.
If you are a person who wants to eat ice cream a lot, or reaches in for that jar of cookies, then it is highly suggested that you should steer away from these sugary confections if you want to lose weight rapidly during the first phase.
The reason behind eliminating all of your cravings is for you to have a headstart on your weight-loss journey. Don’t worry though, you only have to restrict yourself from eating those delicious goodies for 14 days.
After 14 days, marks the start of the second phase. What you’ll do in the second phase is actually good and beneficial. You’ll be eating not only healthy foods, but delicious foods as well.
You will eat some foods that contain fruits, some vegetables, and whole grains. The fat loss during this phase is slower compared to phase 1, but this is actually a good sign because then, you will know that you’re shedding fat the healthy way.
Basically, phase two lasts as long as you hit your target weight goal. For example, you weigh 210 pounds before you started on the diet, and your goal is to reach 150 pounds. Your goal in phase 2 is to eat healthy foods until you reach 150 pounds. After you’ve reached that goal, you will then proceed with the last phase.
The idea behind phase 3 is to keep the fats off and maintain your new healthy weight. Since it takes quite some time to reach your target weight goal, and since then, you’ve eaten only healthy foods, you imprinted the diet on your mind and it has become a lifestyle for you.
That is the idea behind the third phase. Basically, what phase 2 teaches you is the healthy lifestyle, the right way of eating. Phase 3 just reinforces that, and it should become a way of life.
By doing all of these three phases, you will not only lose a lot of fat, but you will keep them off for good!
